Claudia is a young Peruvian designer, trained in Germany and apprenticed in the vibrant world of Lima knitting factories and all types of alpaca sweaters. When we were talking over what styles to develop for fall, Claudia mentioned some experiments she'd been doing with hand-dyed yarns. She space-dyed exquisitely soft Suri alpaca yarn with a rainbow of colors, and then combined it with superfine alpaca to create an effect like the Northern Lights.
We'd never worked with Suri before: only 7% of the alpaca herd is Suri, and the super-soft premium yarn is expensive. We went to the factory, and the swatches were beautiful. Next, we decided on a simple??¨pullover sweater shape in basic black and white. When you're working with the best, why not let the yarn do the talking?
Light-to-Medium Weight, with an airy exquisitely soft Suri-blend lightweight yarn that's comfortable indoors or out.
This alpaca sweater is knit with naturally sourced fiber from alpacas that graze freely in the Peruvian highlands. Alpaca is warmer, softer and more durable than wool, and its cultivation helps rural farming families stay on their land.
